Review: Sweet Potato Kit Kat

Going through the Stash to clear away some of the odder varieties bought recently (to make room for more chocolate, of course) I selected one of the Japanese Kit Kats at random and came up with the Sweet Potato flavor. I like sweet potatoes as they are, so when I shopped around for foreign candies I figured this one might be a benign choice.

Upon opening the wrapper, the first thing I noticed was the sickening sweet aroma - more of sugar and cream than actual sweet potato. It reminded me of when I sampled the Ginger Ale variety, how that one made me pucker. I'm afraid to say, however, that while the aroma lends itself to the vegetable, the taste is overpowered. This bar tastes more like they had taken white Oreo filling and used it to cover the wafers. If there is any flavor true to what it advertised, it's detected very faintly afterward. Otherwise, if you just like bland sweet, this is for you. Not really for me.
