Making S'Mores: Which is the Best Method?

Now that we're down to the dog days of summer, I noticed the weather is finally cooling off a bit. It is a great time to sit outside as the sun goes down and set up a small fire. Gather some friends around, have a beer or soda, and chat the night away. Our little one enjoys these night, too, because she can make s'mores.

During the off months, we may microwave s'mores when we get the craving, but cool summer nights call for chocolate marshmallow treats the old fashioned way. An open flame is best for toasting your marshmallow, though it isn't uncommon to use a barbecue grill if that's all you have. With a grill, you can set the bottom graham cracker to one side and melt the chocolate a bit before you add the marshmallow. I personally find this is ideal, because the hot white goo alone won't melt chocolate.

If you really want to get daring, spread some peanut butter on the cracker. I guarantee once you try it, you won't go back!
